Service and Involvement

A History of Service

The Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Chi is proud to be a leader in the area of service to others, not only on campus, but in the community as well. We have been recognized on the state, local and national levels for our outstanding efforts to better the community around us. Our members take pride in working to serve others, which is evident in the number of hours dedicated and the amount of money donated each year to the charities and organizations in which we are involved.

Our members are involved in a vast number of organizations on and off campus, ranging from Athletics to Student Government, honor societies, community mentoring, and much more. We strive to uphold the high quality of leadership standards by empowering our members to stay involved in organizations of all types.

Each year the Gamma Upsilon works with Chi Omega in order to to provide a night of entertainment to a Make-A-Wish Family. At this event each chapter on campus plans and organizes a singing and dancing routine to compete against each other. The annual event is held in the Humphrey Coliseum to be performed to a sell out crowd, which the proceeds go to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation. It's always a great time to be able to bring a child a huge smile that has been through so much.

Our brothers spent an afternoon at Bell House Volunteer Fire Department helping to improve the facilities and doing minor renovations. The Bell House Fire Department is a local volunteer Fire Department.
